Join in a Multicultural Conversation Sept. 17

MICE (which stands for Multicultural Inclusive Conversation Experiment) meets on a monthly basis to talk about east Austin's multicultural community. The experiment has been held 3 times since the Weed and Seed "Stand up and Be Counted" meeting last May. Open to anyone interested in continuing conversations about multiculturalism, diversity, and inclusion on the east side!

The next date is Thurs. Sept. 17 at 6:45 pm @ the Marvin Griffin Bldg on 1009 E. 11th St (bottom floor). For more information contact Sue Kasun (305-3854) or gskasun@gmail.com.

  1. PROTEST THE REZONING OF 2205 EAST TWELFTH STREET
•COUNTER TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD PLAN, THE OWNER WISHES TO CHANGE THE PROPERTY FROM CIVIC TO MIXED USE AS WELL AS REZONING FROM MULTIFAMILY TO LIMITED OFFICE
    •WILL RAISE OUR TAXES
•THIS PROPERTY IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF EAST AUSTIN HISTORY AND WAS THE SITE OF THE TWELFTH STREET BAPTIST CHURCH FOR DECADES
•THE OWNER WISHES TO BUILD A MUSIC STUDIO AND THE NEIGHBORHOOD ALREADY HAS ONE. MUSIC DISTRICTS ARE NICE PLACES TO VISIT BUT NOT MUCH FUN TO LIVE IN. DON’T LET E. 12TH STREET GO THE WAY OF RAINEY STREET AND E. 6TH STREET WHERE THE QUALITY OF LIFE HAS BEEN REDUCED DRAMATICALLY WHILE PROPERTY TAXES HAVE SKYROCKETED!
