The Student Engineering Council is hosting their annual E-cycling drive on April 15, 2012 in the LBJ parking lot from 8 AM to 5 PM. This is a campus-wide effort to reduce poor recycling methods of unwanted and/or unused electronics. Goodwill and Computer Works are teaming up with UT to provide the greater Austin area with an opportunity to recycle their electronics.
During this drive, volunteers can sign up and help with various tasks that include packaging the electronics and directing the flow of traffic.
Our committee was wondering if you knew of any electronics that the Chestnut community may have that we could possibly recycle in the proper manner.
Also, we would greatly appreciate if you spread the word about our event and encourage participation and/or telling people to bring their electronics on this day.
More information can be found on our website - http://sec.engr.utexas.edu/

Thank you so much for your time and effort.

Austin Historical Survey Wiki Users:
We've recently added new features to the Wiki.
- You can do an Advanced Search on the Find A Place page and see all of the places that meet your criteria. Search the Wiki by architect, text search, construction date, architectural style, place type, survey effort, and designation.
- Check out the edit all fields button on historic place pages. This is a new way to enter lots (or even just a little) information for a historic place all at once.
We will have wiki tours next Wednesday, March 28 from 6:00-7:30 at the Carver Branch Library. Feel free to stop by!

State Representative Dawnna Dukes and Pro Arts Collective invites you to attend the 13th Annual African American Community Heritage Festival, on Saturday, February 25th, 2012. Last year's festivities were highly successful with over 60 vendors, nearly 3,000 in attendance and fundraising efforts that granted $5,000.00 to the Huston-Tillotson University Scholarship Fund!
We extend special thanks to our generous sponsors, hard-working volunteers and service providers, without whom this wonderful event could not have been possible in 2011.
The 13th Annual Festival, scheduled on Saturday, February 25th, will again be held on the beautiful grounds of Huston Tillotson University, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. Huston-Tillotson is located at 900 East Chicon Street in Austin, Texas. With a purposeful objective to raise scholarship funds for Huston-Tillotson University, Austin’s prime long-standing institute of higher learning, this event is a family-friendly extravaganza filled with games and vendors; providing a Kid’s Zone with bounce houses, safety demonstrations, arts & crafts, home décor, books, clothing, jewelry, storytelling, health, vision and dental screenings and insurance outreach coupled with dance, giveaway prizes and a live entertainment mix to satisfy varying musical tastes.
We are expecting another day filled with food, fun and excitement in 2012.
We welcome you to join us.

Hi: I hope you will sign this petition with me and push the City to provide comprehensive infrastructure and streetscape improvements to East 12th Street.
Please forward this to as many people as you can.
Hi Community Garden Leaders,
Looks like the best date and time for the February MLK Community Garden Leaders Meeting isSaturday, February 25th from 3 - 4:30pm. We’ll be at the Learning Center room at the M-Station Apartments, located at 2906 East MLK Blvd (across the street from the future garden). This room is located on the 2nd floor of the leasing office. We’ll carry out the beginning part of the meeting at there, then cross E. MLK Blvd. to take a look at the site of the future garden. As some of you already know, there is poison ivy at the site (though there are paths cleared), so it’s advisable to wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.
No one so far has let me know they are in need of childcare, so I am not currently arranging to provide it, but if you do need childcare, please send me an email to let me know—it’s not too late to recruit a provider.
The goals of this meeting will be:
1) Visit the site of the future garden
2) Take the next steps toward establishing an organizational structure for the leadership team
3) All share ideas about your vision for garden, work on developing shared vision
Please be brainstorming about outreach strategies, what leadership role you might like to play in the planning team (e.g., outreach coordinator, communication coordinator, secretary, meeting facilitator, webmaster, etc.), and your vision for the garden. If you have friends or acquaintances who you think would like to join forces with us to make this garden a reality, please tell them about the project and bring them along to the meeting!
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
